Did Silicon Valley Exec. Keep a Sex Slave For 13 Years?
Silicon
Valley venture capitalist Michael Goguen, a now former managing partner
at Sequoia Capital, has been accused in a breach of contract lawsuit of
"sexually, physically and emotionally" abusing a woman for over 13
years. The complaint claims that Goguen’s accuser, Amber Laurel
Baptiste, was a human trafficking victim who Gugen had promised to help
escape before turning her into a sex slave of his own. Goguen’s
attorneys have said that they will file a countersuit alleging
extortion. We look at the disturbing lawsuit on the Lip News with
Margaret Howell and Nik Zecevic.

Teens Against Trafficking - I Am Not For Sale
I am not for sale - A Pledge Against Human Trafficking
I am not for sale
Under no circumstances will I be coerced,
manipulated or deceived into doing something not of my choosing.
Only I will control my body, my mind and my actions.
My Cry is Heard
I am not for sale
You will not shatter my hopes, my dreams or my possibilities, this is my future
Guided by the knowledge that has been bestowed upon me, I am protected
My Cry is Heard
I am not for sale
I am of value and I value the lives of others
I will not perpetrate fear, violence or harm upon anyone
This goes against my purpose,
My Cry is Heard
My Cry is Heard
I will rely on the strength, wisdom and support
of those who care about me to uplift me when I
am less than perfect
This I pledge to myself and my future

Protecting Runaway and Homeless Youth from Trafficking
Thousands
of children run away or are kicked out of their homes every night.
These children are some of the most vulnerable in our country. Runaway
and homeless youth are easily exploited by traffickers who know the
populations to target and who can easily be controlled. The Runaway and
Homeless Youth and Trafficking Prevention Act (RHYTPA) is a crucial
piece of national legislation that aids to protect these vulnerable
children. The re-authorization calls for increased services, emergency
shelters and more. We will be discussing the vulnerabilities of runaway
and homeless youth, why the RHYTPA is essential to their safety, and
what YOU can do to help us get this piece of legislation passed.
The
End Trafficking Project at +UNICEF USA will be joined with experts in
the field from +Polaris , +Covenant House and National Network for
Youth. Please join us for this crucial conversation.
Panelists Include:
Malea Otranto: End Trafficking Fellow, UNICEF USA End Trafficking Project
Darla Bardine: Executive: Director, National Network for Youth
Jayne Bigelsen: Director of Anti-Human Trafficking Initiatives, Covenant House NY
